Our Theory of Change

THE NEED
THE WORK
THE RESULTS
Problem: Underserved African youth face significant barriers in accessing quality S.T.R.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education, technological resources, and skill development opportunities. This limits their potential to contribute meaningfully to their communities and Africa’s future development.
Inputs: Solar-powered mobile centers designed for sustainability in remote areas, 3D printers and digital tools for hands-on learning, A comprehensive training curriculum aligned with local needs, Partnerships with NGOs, local schools, technology firms, and social enterprises to provide necessary resources and support.
Pathways to Scale: Develop and implement strategies for replicating and scaling the mobile S.T.R.E.A.M Pop-up community center model across regions, Address skills gaps through ongoing training and capacity-building programs, Establish a support network of local stakeholders to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
People Impacted: The primary beneficiaries are youth in refugee settlements, rural, and underserved communities who currently have limited access to quality education and career opportunities. These youth often face compounded challenges like poverty, instability, and limited access to the tools that could unlock their potential.
Interventions: Mobile, solar-powered pop-up centers providing access to STREAM education, entrepreneurship, and technical skills training, Renewable energy training programs to support local energy needs and environmental sustainability, Innovation and problem-solving workshops designed to foster entrepreneurial mindsets and build community-driven solutions.
Outputs: Number of youth trained in STREAM subjects, Number of prototypes and innovative solutions developed by the youth, Number of community projects, social ventures, and enterprises initiated by youth, Number of youth engaged in sustainable practices and leadership roles.
Reason for Empowering Youth: Empowering young people as innovators and problem-solvers is essential for addressing local challenges and building economic resilience. By equipping youth with the necessary skills and mindsets, they will drive positive change in their communities, while contributing to broader goals of sustainable development, peace, and social inclusion.
Partners: Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with expertise in education, technology, and youth development, Local schools, community organizations, and government bodies committed to youth empowerment, Technology companies and startups who provide tools, mentorship, and resources, International development agencies and foundations with a focus on sustainable development and youth initiatives.
Short-Term Outcomes (6-12 months): Increased understanding and proficiency in STEM disciplines, such as coding, robotics, and renewable energy, Early-stage innovations and prototypes developed by students addressing local community challenges, Growth in youth confidence, self-esteem, and leadership potential as they engage with their communities.
Behavior Change: Greater community awareness and appreciation of the importance of S.T.R.E.A.M education for youth, Increased demand for youth leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurial initiatives, Adoption of new technologies, methods, and practices by youth and community members, particularly in sustainable practices and entrepreneurship.
Long-Term Outcomes (2-5 years): ★ Establishment of student-led businesses and social ventures that tackle local challenges (e.g., water access, waste management, energy, and agriculture) ★ Increased employment opportunities and economic mobility for youth as they enter the job market with new skills ★ Strengthened community development and improved quality of life through youth-led initiatives and innovation.
Big Idea: A network of mobile, self-sustaining, pop-up STREAM centers that provide youth access to tools, resources, and training, enabling them to become local change-makers, innovators, and problem-solvers. These centers will be adaptable to local contexts, replicable across Africa, and built to scale.
10-Year Target: A robust network of fully operational, self-sustaining pop-up centers across multiple African countries, creating an ecosystem of young innovators and entrepreneurs driving sustainable development.
Mission: To equip African youth with the skills, knowledge, mindset and tools needed to solve community challenges, create new opportunities, and thrive in a rapidly changing, technology-driven world.
Final Impact: Empowered youth equipped with leadership, technical, and entrepreneurial skills will spearhead sustainable development, foster innovation, and contribute to social change, transforming local and national economies across Africa.
